On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Raffaello Sanzio's death, Rimini City Museum had on display the “Madonna Diotallevi” from 17 October 2020 until 10 January 2021. Unfortunately the pandemic emergency suspended the exhibition and in January one of the most important early works of the Painter from Urbino has to return to Germany.
The exhibit had also to give an insight on the last owner of this painting, the Rimini citizen Audiface Diotallevi, Standard Bearer of the city and patron of architect of the Galli Theatre, Luigi Poletti. A precious opportunity to discover the fate of the several paintings of the Diotallevi collection, which today are kept in the major international museums.
While waiting for the return of the beautiful painting, the City Museum, in collaboration with Radio Ora, organizes a virtual appointment, on January 22 at 8.30 pm, with Giulio Zavatta, art historian of the Ca 'Foscari University in Venice, author of the recent volume on the Madonna Diotallevi and curator of the exhibition “Raffaello in Rimini. The return of the Madonna Diotallevi ”. The event will be aired on www.officinariminiarte.it (in Italian language)
