The 'Black feathers' (this is how the Italian mountain troops are nicknamed) arrive for the first time on the Riviera.
It will be a special edition because 100 years have passed since the first spontaneous meeting of the Alpine troops. The gathering, at first scheduled for May 2020 in Rimini, has been postponed to May 2022 to cope with coronavirus emergency.
The 2022 gathering will be the first held simoultaneously in Italy and abroad, involving the territory of San Marino. The 'Alpini' registered in ANA are approximately 350 thousand, divided into 110 sections, 80 in Italy and 30 abroad. Among them there will also be 4,500 members of the Bolognese-Romagna section of the Ana "Angelo Manaresi", chaired by Vittorio Costa, who also includes citizens from the Republic of San Marino.

The opening ceremony of the national gathering will be held on May 5, at 1.00pm at the Romeo Neri Stadium, with the launch of the paratroopers and the arrival of the Milan-Rimini relay.
On 6 May Parade of flags, banners and pennants up to Piazza Cavour, where at the Galli Theater they will remain on display, while on Saturday 7 May, in addition to the launch of the Paratroopers at the XXV Aprile Park, 33 marching bands play anthems inside the stadium.
The final parade on Sunday 8 May  will take place from  piazzale Gondar to piazza Marvelli, from 9.00am to 8.00pm approximately.

The Military Citadel in Piazzale Fellini, the historic citadel in Piazza Malatesta, the Camp Hospital and the School Camp in the XXV Aprile Park and the documentary exhibitions at the City Museum are open to visitors starting fromThursday 5 May.
During the days of the Gathering on the external walls of the Galli theater, Castel Sismondo and on the ledwall of the Palazzo del Fulgor, screening of photographs and films relating to the 150 years of the Alpini corps and 103 years of  the ANA will be projected.

Additional notes: 

To make the event possible, the city becomes a large "pedestrian area", in particular on Sunday 8 May, day of the great parade of the Alpine troops along the beach promenade, running along the waterfront aproximately between beach attendant 55 and 100.
On sunday 8 the city will be divided into two zones: the 'red' and the 'orange zone'. In the red zone it will be forbidden to move or park with cars and other means of transport also for the guests of hotel activities within the area.
