Rimini Meeting has taken place every year since 1980. It is an important appointment for encounters, culture, music and entertainment. A crossroad of testimonies and experiences from different and various cultures: lively happenings, unique in their kinds, attracting an audience of more than 600.000 people every year.
During these 38 years the Meeting has tackled nowadays crucial issues relating to culture, science, politics and economics through an open and free dialogue with the most interesting and important international personalities, such as His Holiness John Paul II, Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Andrej Tarkovskij and Dalai Lama, science Nobel Prize-winners, entrepreneurs and sportmen.
The title of the 2017 Meeting, 'All that you have, bequeathed you by your father, earn it in order to possess it', taken from J.W. Goethe’s 'Faust', highlights our need to make what is “bequeathed” to us, truly our own.
In this year's Meeting there will be stories of men and women that tell about humanity, scientific, artistic and business matters, all centered around a desire to build together and face today’s challenges with courageous realism.
The Meeting 2017 is ment to be a place of dialogue where to share wealth and beauty, history and experience, and work together in order to glimpse and to built together potential paths with the world as horizon. The rich calendar of events includes meetings, exhibitions, music and theatre performances, sport and much more, for an unforgettable week of experiences to live.
In the opening day, 20th August, Meeting Rimini will feature the Madama Butterfly opera in the concert version by the China National Opera House. 160 artists among singers and musicians from Beijing will be on stage in their traditional costumes (at 9.45pm).
