The ballet based on the novel by Lord Byron, 'Il Corsaro', is performed on music by Adolph Adam'. The ballet is well known for its Pas de Deux, a real test for dancers of all time.
Il Corsaro, is performed in three parts with an epilogue, and it tells the adventures of Medora, a Greek girl who was sold as a slave, and her beloved, the pirate Conrad. Both are captured, and after being rescued by an odalisca, they have a shipwreck, but they manage to reach the shore by clinging to a wreck.
