At the Festa de 'Borg, great celebrations for The Tiberius Bridge's anniversary

On 6 and 7 September, the festival in the Borgo San Giuliano celebrates the two thousand years history of the roman monument with numerous events
Tiberio, tein Bota! > Tiberio, hold on!
That is the title 2014 of the event, that takes place every 2 years in the historical Borgo San Giuliano, the ancient fishermen's district, which envolves the whole town of Rimini, looking back to an old now disappeared world.

Every two years, since 1979, the Festa de' Borg has been an appointment drawing a very large audience; it has always been stressing cultural aspects with exhibitions by local artists and painters who carry out murals in the Borgo or display collections of old documents, coins and prints in order to get visitors live the city’s past time full of rites and traditions.
This year the festival focuses on a topic theme: the celebration of the 2000 anniversary of the Bridge of Tiberius (14 - 21 d.C.).

During centuries, the Tiberius Bridge, nearby the ancient fishermen village, has represented a special location: a space of transition, of meetings, of arrivals and departures. People, armies and merchandise have passed on this bridge, and millions of footsteps have beaten its stones with sandals, bare feet, clogs, military boots, sneakers, high heels. The aim of the event is  a return to the past to re-build a better future.

During the two-day festival, the squares of Borgo San Giuliano will turn into theatres and stages, where two thousand years of history will be told through representations of the various ages, from the Roman period to nowadays. It aims to be a tour through the centuries to tell the story of this monument of the city, that even today, after 2000 years, has not yet retired.
There are scheduled events such the reconstruction of a Roman camp by the association Legio XIII Gemina. The Middle Ages are represented by jesters and battle wars, while the Choir A. Galli will pay tribute to Giuseppe Verdi to remember the XIX century. The XX century, instead, will be featured through an exhibition of vintage cars. In a few words every history era will be accompanied and explained by illustrations, performances, music and  food typical of each peculiar time.

The bridge will be decorated and packaged as a gift during the two evenings, and it will be the location of a rich calendar of events starting on Saturday evening at 9 pm with an opening parade, the two thousand - Kitch parade: departure from Piazza Cavour and arrival on the Tiberius Bridge in Borgo San Giuliano. A parade which gathers together all different eras in 2,000 years of history, headed by the Banda Città di Rimini. A performance of 3 D video mapping of the bridge, curated by Luca Agnani - one of the leading video-artist on the Italian scene (at 9.45 pm), will follow at the end of the representation.

In addition to all performances in the whole Borgo San Giuliano, in the area nearby the Tiberius Bridge, a special event will take place: “Happy Birthsday's Water Square”. On Sunday 7th September (around 10 pm), a concert by the Orchestra Lettimi, the Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini and the Choir of Rimini City "A.Galli" conducted by Matteo Salvemini and Aldo Zangheri will be performed with a program that ranges from Beethoven's Ode to Joy from the Symphony no. 9, to Orff's Carmina Burana n. 1 - 2 - 6 - 10 and from Royal Fireworks Music by Händel to the contemporary music of Deep Purple, Smoke on the water.
