Getting there:

by car: Rimini - Santarcangelo, 10 km, on the Via Emilia, Statale 9. The drive takes about 20 minutes.
by train: Rimini - Santarcangelo, frequent service. Bicycles may be transported on some trains. Then a 15 minute walk to the centre.
by bus: from Rimini, Bus no. 9 and 90 (www.startromagna.it/servizi/orari-e-percorsi/)
by bike: from Rimini, travel along the banks of the Marecchia River until the intersection with Strada Provinciale 49, turn right and follow the directions for Santarcangelo. This route is not difficult and should take about an hour.

The medieval village is concentrated around its beautiful fortress which can be reached by ascending along the tiny streets that open onto wide panoramas of the Riviera below.
The hill underlying Santarcangelo hides the mystery of the more than 200 caves dug into the limestone; enchanting hypogea, the origins of which are still practically unknown. It is possible to visit them by calling the tourist information office.

Surroundings: not far from the center is the Pieve di San Michele, with a rectangular plan and a round apse. In Poggio Berni, a visit to the Moroni Water Mill is recommended.

Additional notes:

Local cuisine: It is the typical cuisine of Romagna's inland areas, simple and tasty. Piadina, which can be eaten with squacquerone cheese or with salted meats such as ham or salami, reigns supreme.
The pasta dish tagliatelle alla Minghina, prepared with a delicate vegetable sauce, is an absolute must.

Wines: This is an important area for wine and, in addition to the "DOC" wines sold with the Colli Riminesi guaranteed quality seal, there are such wines as Sangiovese, Trebbiano and Pagadebit, a white wine that derives from a type of grapevine that is so prolific that, as legend has it, it helps pay off debts quickly. Hence the name, Pagadebit.

Purchases and souvenirs: There are the traditional hand-printed items decorated with designs that are typical of Romagna's peasant culture.
In the centre hand-made lace can be bought and there are several antique shops with precious objects for sale.
