Getting there:
The park is accessible from via Guado Marecchia. Poggio Berni

The fossils found in the area of the river Marecchia testify that before the quarry here there was the sea.The existence of this fossil deposit was detected in the seventies, but only in 1981 began the excavation campaign, which brought to light over 2000 pieces. Most fossils are fish; because in the Pliocene, the whole area of the deposit was submerged by the sea, like most of Italy. The deposit of the Marecchia is important because a large number of interesting specimens have been found: many genera, in fact, had never been found in the Mediterranean basin; fossils of fish today living in tropical and sub-tropical waters such as the Indian and Pacific Oceans have been found.
The park is public, admission free.
It can also be reached through a cycle path that connects it directly to Rimini, along the course of the Marecchia river in a pleasant bike ride surrounded by nature. The cycle path continues towards Museo Mulino Sapignoli and then to Ponte Verucchio and the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Saiano.
