Wines: Colli di Rimini DOC

Five are the D.O.C. (Denominazione di Origine Controllata= Protected Appellation of Origin) wines called "Colli di Rimini", which are pleasant companions to Sangiovese di Romagna red wine.
It is said that they reflect the spirit of the people of Rimini, profoundly rooted in local traditions, but at the same time open to all that is international and cosmopolitan.
They are, therefore, a splendid accompaniment to the cuisine of Romagna, to Italy’s other regional cuisine, and to international cuisine as well.

Squacquerone di Romagna PDO cheese

This is a delicious and extremely soft cheese that spreads easily and can be eaten with piadina or any other type of bread. It has a very creamy consistency with neither a crust nor rind and its name derives from the Romagnolo dialect word “squaquaròn” which indicates its “wateriness”.

The production zone for Squacquerone di Romagna PDO cheese includes the provinces of Rimini, Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna and Bologna and part of the territory of Ferrara in the region of Emilia-Romagna.

Sangiovese

Sangiovese is the most important wine of the local tradition in Romagna, as the Sangiovese grape variety is widespread nationally and contributes to the production of wines of great strength and flavor, for example, Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino.

Despite this, the Sangiovese of Romagna is actually typical of this area and was the first to be recognized as one of the DOC wines of Romagna (Protected Appellation of Origin).
