Rimini Meeting has taken place every year since 1980. It is an important appointment for encounters, culture, music and entertainment. A crossroad of testimonies and experiences from different and various cultures: lively happenings, unique in their kinds, attracting an audience of more than 600.000 people every year.
During these 37 years the Meeting has tackled nowadays crucial issues relating to culture, science, politics and economics through an open and free dialogue with the most interesting and important international personalities, such as His Holiness John Paul II, Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Andrej Tarkovskij and Dalai Lama, science Nobel Prize-winners, entrepreneurs and sportmen.
This year it is the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who will inaugurate the Meeting on 19th August.
The title of the 2016 Meeting is "You are a good for me", because Man’s “I” is first and foremost a history made up of faces, relationships and circumstances that play out over the course of time. Through exhibitions, performances, roundtables and witnesses, the 2016 Meeting in its variety of languages will tell stories of integration and of forgiveness, it will focus on the great emergencies we face today, and will give the protagonists of culture and expression the chance to speak. It will confront the challenges of technology of innovation, attempt to look at work and the economy without moralistic demonizing, and it will bring together cross sections of history gone by. The Meeting speaks to the heart of every contemporary man in a language accessible to all, which marks the beginning of new relations and an ongoing story.
