In the Romagna territory, from 20th to 24th July, the Riviera and the hinterland will celebrate a great event linked to the folk music and ballroom dancing promoted by the Emilia Romagna Region. The municipalities on the Adriatic coast (Comacchio, Ravenna, Cervia- Milano Marittima, Cesenatico, Gatteo Mare, San Mauro Mare, Bellaria Igea Marina, Rimini, Riccione, Misano Adriatico, Cattolica) together with the villages in the hinterland will propose a calendar of music and dancing - waltz, polka and mazurka - performed by famous orchestras, but also revisited by young bands in contemporary style. The event will animate the beaches and the squares with professional dancers and with people of all ages who are keen on ballroom dancing.
On schedule there are many appointments.
The highlight in Rimini is in the evening of Saturday 23rd July with Goran Bregovic, the internationally well known musician and composer, a master in mixing folk music and electronic, rhythms and sacred themes, and composer of soundtracks of the cult film by the director Emir Kusturica.
The Serbian musician will perform on the stage giving the public his personal reinterpretation of the traditional folk music which will culminate with the famous song, "Romagna Mia", performed together with the Orchestras of Mirko Casadei and Moreno Biondo & Extraliscio and the guests, Cisco (frontman of the Modena City Ramblers) and Mirco Mariani.
Even the tourist committees in Rimini, from Torre Pedrera to Miramare, will dedicate one of the evenings to the ballroom dancing and the Romagna folk tradition.
On the occasion of the event a Competition, Romagna Mia 2.0, has also been launched for artists "under 35" (band, songwriters, singers, rappers, musicians and artists of every music style) to reinterpret the traditional music of Romagna in a new mode. The winners will performe in Piazzale Fellini on July 23rd introducing the special guest star: Goran Bregovic.
