On Saturday, 24th February, at 5 p.m., the exhibition “Myths and Landscapes (Miti e Paesaggi)” dedicated to the painter Enrico Longfils (1914-1992) will open at the Galleria dell'Immagine (Image Gallery), in Rimini. There, works from private collections and heirs, datable from 1935 to 1980 will be on show. The exhibition would like to be a synthesis of the artist’s routes, from the landscapes to Ulysses’ cycle, dedicated to the Homeric hero’s myth, renewed in an enigmatic and surreal key as it was the archetype of western culture, the symble of destiny and human mistaking.
Longfils from Mantova, a polyhedric personality (he has been a teacher of the English language and literature for a long time), ironic and smart, has studied painting as a self-taught person since he was a child and has reinforced it during the years from an always vivid and careful cultural bond. The artist was a faithful visitor of Romagna’s shores, in particular Viserba’s ones. There he had met the group of artists from Umberto Folli’s school, whom he had become friend with. His bond with the city of Rimini has remained untouched till the end of his life.
