Gaius Julius Caesar was assassinated on 15 March of 44 B.C.
This date is historically known as "the Ides of March".
Saturday 15 March 2019 Rimini wants to commemorate the historic event in the place where tradition tells that Caesar had harangued the legionaries of the XIII Gemina Legion after the passage of the Rubicone river.
The ceremony includes the deposition at 11.30 am, by the "legionaries", of a laurel crown at the foot of the 'Suggestum' located in Piazza Tre Martiri, the place where more than two thousand years ago Julius Caesar pronounced the famous phrase "ALEA IACTA EST".
