The Ancient World Festival is back in Rimini in its 17th edition. The event aims to give opportunities to rediscover the ancient time, but also to find opportunities to meet and study. In a other words it is a multifaceted festival of knowledge and reflection on the many branches of culture of which we are the spiritual heirs.
This year the theme of the festival is linked to the Italian claim of the Expo 2015. It aims to be an exploring of the food culture between archeology and history, economy and society, environment and landscape, in a dynamic relationship between past and present.
As tradition there are also special initiatives dedicated to kids and young people, the "Piccolo Mondo Antico Festival", in order to let them discover the heritage and deepen the issues of  relationship between ancient and present time.

Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2015
Rimini City Museum, via Tonini 1, and Rimini historic centre
Initiatives for children: workshops, guided tours and special events

Piccolo Mondo Antico festival is part of the Ancient World Festival which this year celebrates its seventeenth edition. It is an important event in the relationship with the younger generations, the future guardians of cultural heritage. During these three days, children and young people will have the opportunity to learn about antique arts and crafts, ancient games, participate in animated and multi-sensory guided tours and participate in narratives and performances of sound and dances.
From Friday afternoon until late Sunday afternoon there will be proposed a wide range of events in the City Museum: workshops of mosaic, puppets and cooking, simulations of banquets in the Roman era, entertaining treasure hunts, simulation of archaeological digs and guided tours in the historic centre, all aimed to discover the ancient Ariminum and the city's life 2000 years ago. In addition, Sunday is proposed a special event from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm along Corso d'Augusto (Decumano Massimo) and in Piazza Tre Martiri square:
Welcome to Ariminum!
The association "Legio XIII Gemina" will create a re-enactment of scenes from everyday life in the atmosphere of 2000 years ago. The heart of Rimini historic centre comes alive and at the entrances of the city centre there will be the presence of a Roman legion. Young students of the tourist high school in Rimini will act as ciceroni to present the treasures of the Roman Rimini. Children may try children's games in the Roman era, games with nuts, pins, spinning tops of wood, but also create a 3D card of the Roman Rimini or even decorate the legionnaires' shields. The event is with free participation.
