IT

Rimini Meeting has taken place every year since 1980. It is an important appointment for encounters, culture, music and entertainment. A crossroad of testimonies and experiences from different and various cultures: lively happenings, unique in their kinds, attracting an audience of more than 800.000 people every year.

What is the Rimini Meeting?
The Meeting for Friendship Amongst Peoples is an encounter among persons of different faiths and cultures, a place for friendship where peace, socialization, and a friendship among peoples may be established. Since the first edition, every year great political personalities, managers, representatives of different religions and cultures, intellectuals and artists, athletes and protagonists of the world scene visit the event. All of this happens in the seven days during which the world’s most attended cultural festival takes place.

Edition 2017
The title of the next Meeting for Friendship Amongst Peoples, taken from J.W. Goethe’s “Faust” is “All that you have, bequeathed you by your father, earn it in order to possess it” and highlights our need to make that which is “bequeathed” to us, truly our own. What is it that we’ve inherited?

Some of the conferences of this year
During the Meeting 2017, which will be held from 20 to 26 August at the Rimini Fair, there will be over 120 meetings with 300 speakers. Among the guests of this edition: the Secretary-General of Nato Jens Stoltenberg, the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani, the Economists Erik Jones, Dennis J. Snower, Jeromin Zettelmeyer and Domenico Lombardi, the EU religious freedom delegate Ján Figel', and the French intellectual Olivier Roy. The Franciscans of the Holy Land will present their exhibition The land most chosen by God. The custody of the Holy Land.

The shows of the Meeting
As for the shows, only a few titles: an edition of Madama Butterfly by Puccini in a concert form with more than 170 people will be set on the stage by the China National Opera House on Sunday evening. "Solaris" will bring science fiction to the theater, while a great actor like Massimo Popolizio will propose "Padre e figlio” (Father and Son), a text by Fabrizio Sinisi, inspired by the theme of the Meeting. Finally, "Un sussulto al cuore" (A jolt to the heart) is the title of the orchestral concert and chorus with the music of Emmanuele Lo Russo.
