From Vermeer to Kandinsky: masterpieces from all over the world

From 21 January to 3 June 2012, the Castel Sismondo will host a great exhibition presenting the history of art by works from the mid-15th to the 20th century

After the two previous great exhibitions "From Rembrandt to Gaugin and Picasso: the enchant of painting in Rimini" and "Paris. The wonderful years” together with “Caravaggio and other painters of the 17th century”, the Malatestian fortress will host another important exhibition “From Vermeer to Kadinsky”. Thanks to the involvement of many museums in the world, the exhibition has been gathering the best works of the most significant period from each nation (from mid-15th to 20th century). It has been conceived to be a great art history lesson even to those who haven't a thorough knowledge of art.

The exhibition aims to highlight the centuries of greatest splendor of each of the main countries in art history. And within each century, especially for Italy, the most representative region has been chosen for each specific period. For example, the 18th-century in Italy will be represented by Venetian paintings from Canaletto to Guardi, Tiepolo and Bellotto. Tuscany and the Veneto will highlight the 16th century, while artistic works inspired by Caravaggio have been chosen for the 17th century. In this way the exhibition will offer a large view of important masterpieces by some of the main artists in the last five centuries in Europe and in America.

THE ARTISTIC ROUTE OF THE EXHIBITION:
1. Venetian Painting in the 15th and 16th centuries
2. Italian Painting in the 16th and 17th centuries
3. The18th century Venetian Painting
4. The Siglo de Oro - Spain's Golden Age
5. The Dutch Golden Age
6. The Impressionism Movement
7. British Painting between the 18th and 19th centuries
8. 20th century Painting in Europe

The works on show are about eighty and come from thirty of the best museums in the world. Among the names of the artists you will find Raffaello, Mantegna, Tiziano, Velasquez, Canaletto, Goya, Poussin, Monet, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Turner, Kandinsky, Picasso, etc...

"From Hopper to Warhol"
An important section of the exhibition, the 20th-century American Painting, is organized as a completely independent show and will be hosted in the Palazzo SUMS in the Republic of San Marino, just twenty kilometers from Rimini.

The exhibitions are organized once again by Linea d’ombra, an enterprise created by Marco Goldin in 1996, in collaboration with the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Rimini and the Fondazione San Marino. This great event, taking place in Rimini, celebrates the fifteen years of their activity and will be open to the public from January 21st to June 3rd. Til March 28th Rimini will also pay a homage to the Italian Carmelo Zotti and host a collection by Franco Sarnari (from March 31st).

Opening time:
from Monday to Friday: 9am - 7pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 9am - 8pm
