To celebrate Halloween, from 31 October to 3 November, the Aquarium of Cattolica, a few kilometres from Rimini, becomes a dark place of fear. The Aquarium that generally offers a fascinating interactive tour with more than 400 species of fish and animals from the seas all over the world, on this occasion becomes as a labyrinth of horror, animated by scary creatures.
Oltremare in Riccione with the beautiful Lagoon for the dolphins will be open from Saturday 1st to Sunday 2nd November and the entrance is free for children bringing a pumpkin.

During Halloween festivities, also Mirabilandia (on the way to Ravenna) will give a big party with pumpkins, monsters and mischievous ghosts, ready to give so much fun to the young guests and their families who want to spend a magical day in the park. On Friday evening the park will stay open till 10pm.

Also Rimini City Museum proposes to children and teenagers events for fear and fun already from the late afternoon on October 31st! At 5.30 pm is proposed an animated tale "Little Skelley and the bewitched mosaic". It is a tale for the little children (3-8 years) which ends with a mini treasure hunt. In the evening, at 9.30 pm, two appointments for children aged 8 to 11 years are scheduled, the "Treasure hunt among the spirits of Ariminum" that ends with the creation of a personal amulet to ward off evil forces, and the "Interview with the ghosts of the Museum", a scaring meeting in the Pinacoteca. Last appointment on the Halloween night is at 11 pm with "A Museum of fear!" which is dedicated to older children (from 12 years) and to adults with thrilling readings among the art works in the Museum.
For families with children Halloween becomes an excellent occasion for programming a visit to Rimini City Museum and the surgeon’s house. As a matter of fact nowhere else in the world is there such a unique collection: that is to say a set of surgical instruments found in the house (domus) of a Roman doctor of the III century A.D. together with a collection of mortars, medicine containers, scales, measuring spoons and an original foot-shaped pot. Other treasures, such as the mosaic depicting boats in the port of Ariminum, have been found in Roman houses in the area. Works from the fourteenth century Rimini school of painters are wonderful to see. There are also masterpieces of the Renaissance Court, paintings of the seventeenth century, featuring artist such as Cagnacci, Centino and Guercino. Brightly coloured eye-catching posters are displayed in the area dedicated to commercial graphics by René Gruau, testimony to the creative arts of the 1900s, together with the Book of Dreams of Federico Fellini, on display in a dedicated room. The museum also has an Archaeological Wing to enable visitors to go through 40 exhibition rooms passing from the time of prehistoric man through to the end of Late Antiquity. Next to the City Museum, in piazza Ferrari stands the exceptional archeological complex of the surgeon’s house whit exhibits that span 2000 years of history, site of the most varied set of surgical implements from the Roman era ever found and known to us today.
