Cartoon Club celebrates its 30th anniversary

Cartoon Club - 30th edition
From July 4 to 27 the International Festival of Animation Cinema and Comics is back to Rimini

Cartoon Club, the International Festival of Animation Cinema and Comics, celebrates its 30th anniversary and presents a rich calendar of events from 4th to 27th July in different parts of the city, from the sea side area to the old town, and even in the hinterland, all in the name of animation and comics.
The poster of this special edition is produced by Leo Ortolani, the "father" of Ratman.


EXHIBITIONS
Special Guest at the Festival is Bruno Bozzetto, the acclaimed director of animated films and the creator of Mr. Rossi. Bozzetto will be in Rimini on Friday 11th July on the occasion of the presentation of the exhibition dedicated to him, “Dal Bozzetto al Pixel”, on display in Rimini City Museum from 4th to 27th July.

In addition, in the new space of the City Museum, Ala Moderna, there are other exhibitions: one dedicated to Luciano Bottaro, illustrator for Disney and "The Newspaper" and creator of characters such as Pepito and Pon Pon; a tribute to the 80th anniversary of Donald Duck and another exhibition dedicated to the “future” detective Nathan Never.

In the space of the F.A.R. gallery in Piazza Cavour the characters by Stelio Fenzo, the Venetian master of the comic, creator of "Jungla" and "Simba", are hosted from 4th to 27th July.

Contemporaneously in the Shopping Centre "Le Befane" is on display a collection of original comic boards dedicated to the world of motorcycling, while the Palazzo Roma, in Piazzale Fellini, hosts the exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Cartoon Club Festival with posters and memorabilia of the event during the years.

In the restyled Embassy, the historic venue in Marina Centro, is proposed the exhibition dedicated to Spider-Man and the Italian editions dedicated to the hero.
In the hinterland of Rimini, an exhibition related to St. Francis in the comics will be on display in the Convent of Santa Croce in Villa Verucchio.


CARTOON CLUB in PIAZZA FELLINI
In the weekend of La Notte Rosa – the Pink Night – 4th to 6th July, Cartoon Club will be present in Palazzo Roma and on the Turquoise Smart Beach, with events dedicated to "parkour", the street art of agile athletes close to the actions of the cartoon heroes such as Spider-Man and others.
On schedule performances and meetings with Pedro "Phosky" Leon Gomez and his team Galizian Elite Urban Project and Guillermo "Shobu" Lake Costas. Besides screenings of cartoons dedicated to super heroes will be shown.

During the weekend from 11th to 13th July the Lego Children’s Village will be set up proposing a calendar of initiatives dedicated to children such as live concerts, screenings and much more.
From 17th to 20th July, four days of special events such Riminicomix, the comics market, and the Rimini Cosplay Convention with Piazzale Fellini invaded by hundreds of young people wearing gaudy costumes inspired by comics characters and cartoons. The same characters that populate every evening the giant screen set up on the square to delight children and their families.
And not to be missed is the traditional appointment with "Comics on the Beach", where famous cartoonists perform "live" on the beach in the morning among sunbeds and umbrellas.


CARTOON CLUB in the Ala Moderna space of RIMINI CITY MUSEUM
The “Giardino delle Meraviglie” – the Garden of Wonders – is a special space created in Ala Moderna of the City Museum open from 11th to 19th July. It is a kids corner in the morning, where from 6.30 pm are scheduled events such as DJ sets, guided sensorial tours with a special section called “Walk into the Future with Knowledge”, together with artistic performances and many other surprises.


FILM SCREENINGS
On Thursday 17th July in Piazzale Fellini: an evening dedicated to Japanese “souls” with screening of Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell: Innocence.
On Monday 21st July: screening of the film “Khumba – strips desperately wanted” by Antony Silverston, produced by the South African Studios “Triggerfish”, the same that produced "Zambezia".
In conjunction with the football World Cup a film on theme of football could not be missing. The animated film “Goool!” by the famous director Juan Jose Campanella will be projected on Tuesday 22nd July in the Corte degli Agostiniani (entrance fee).
The Province of Rimini will be involved in the Festival too with screenings in different towns and villages of hinterland.


AWARDS
As usual, many are the contests and the awards proposed in the Festival such as "Signor Rossi", for the production of students of Italian and foreign animated film schools, the "Franco Fossati" award, the "Fede a strisce" dedicated to the Christian religion in comics, the "Cartoon Kids" of short animation films dedicated to children aged up to 12 years, the "Cartoon Junior", contest of short films made by children of primary schools and the award "Cartoon Club" dedicated to animated films produced by professional Italian and foreign filmmakers and production studios.
