Borghi – Viaggio Italiano: a journey through the most renowned Towns in Italy

Borghi - Viaggio Italiano, a journey through the most renowned Towns in Italy

Borghi – Viaggio Italiano is an initiative to promote 1000 towns in Italy, both on the coast or in the inland, as places offering slow tourism, authenticity and quality of life.
Running throughout 2017 - declared “Year of Italian Towns” by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MIBACT) - it aims to promote, both within Italy and abroad, the towns of Italy, rich in heritage and custodians of the history, traditions, and identity of their region. Unique locations, where guests can once again enjoy the human dimension of travel.

The initiative, created as part of the interregional tourism development project DPR 158/07, is promoted by 18 regions of Italy headed by the Emilia-Romagna region, in collaboration with MIBACT.

A thousand wonderful destinations offer you the chance to experience a journey rich in excitement and discovery following four main themes - The Towns of Italy, Italy’s Historic Coastal Towns, The Lands of Malatesta and Montefeltro, the ‘Paesaggi d’Autore’ network of cultural itineraries - and offering typical food and wine products, traditions and quality of life.

After the success of the exhibition held in Rome in June, the 'Borghi Viaggio Italiano' initiative continues and relaunches with PASSABORGO, the digital passport for travelers who want to discover the wonderful cities of Italy. Until 30 September 2017, you can download the free Passaborgo app to receive your digital passport. You can collect stamps for over 200 destinations out of the 1000 taking part in the Borghi – Viaggio Italiano project and enjoy an adventure rich in excitement and discovery. Discover how to use the app and download it here www.viaggio-italiano.it/en/passaborgo

Throughout the month of August until Sunday September 3rd we all have an extra reason to visit the villages that from the hinterland to the coast decorate the landscape of Italy. As a matter of fact the Instagramers Italia Association has launched a Instagram challenge.  To take part in the photos challenche you just have to add to your Instagram photos shot in the Borghi Viaggio Italiano towns the hashtags #viaggiareperborghi and #borghiviaggioitaliano (besides the name of the place and some reasons or advices to visit it).
With this contest IgersItalia asks you to show the most picturesque and scenographic but at the same time the authentic and traditional side of Italian villages, rich in testimonies of the past and still rooted in the most sincere identity of the territory. So go on with pictures of landscapes, alleys, glimpses, monuments, typical products and all the perspectives that make the Italian centers the keepers of authentic life.
The prize for the authors of the three most beautiful and representative photos (selected by a jury’s decision) is a 3-day tour in a few Italian villages together with some IgersItalia exponents, while a further and larger selection of photographs will create an Instant Book with credits to authors.  More info con IgersItalia’s blog.

Rimini is present in this initiative both with the villages of its hinterland and as a resort included among Italy’s Historic Coastal Towns, in The Lands of Malatesta and Montefeltro, in the ‘Paesaggi d’Autore’ cultural network.

Upon arrival in Rimini, each traveler will be geo-localized by the app and will be able to download the presence visa, which can be shown to local operators to be entitled to take advantage of offers tailored to the occasion. Those who want to take part in the PassaBorgo initiative have time from 17 June to 30 September 2017
